Foster Grandparent Program

Program Overview

Since 1965, our Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) has brought experienced mentors aged 55 and over to youth with special needs. Our dedicated Foster Grandparents provide one-on-one attention and guidance in schools.

With a commitment of 15 to 40 hours a week, Foster Grandparents review schoolwork, reinforce core values, and create lasting connections.

Eligibility and Benefits

If you’re 55 or older, you’re eligible to join our Foster Grandparent Program. Volunteers must meet AmeriCorps Seniors income guidelines and will be provided a stipend.

All FGP volunteers are covered by accident and liability insurance, receive meals while on duty, transportation reimbursement, and monthly training.
