April Is National Volunteer Month – The Perfect Time For You, Or Somebody You Know, To Become A Mentor
National Volunteer Month in the United States takes place every year during the month of April. This month is dedicated to honoring all the volunteers in our communities – like Big Brother Sam Willsey who’s pictured above with his Little Brother Evan. It’s also meant to be a time when we encourage friends, family Members and business associates to become volunteers throughout the month… and even beyond.
Some believe that mentoring is taking a break during the current pandemic. This isn’t the situation at all at Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters. Because we know the importance of an uninterrupted bond between Big Brothers and Big Sisters and their Little Brothers and Little Sisters, we’re happy to say we we’ve been able to transition the bulk of our matches from in-person meetings to virtual get-togethers. These online match meetings will likely switch back to in-person meetings once the COVID-19 health crisis subsides. But, for now, we feel that virtual is the most prudent option.
